Ukrainian Flavors Goes Live on KXLU 88.9 FM, Los Angeles

Every business has a story behind it — moments of courage, uncertainty, and hope that shape what it becomes. For Ukrainian Flavors, that story recently found a new voice on the airwaves of Los Angeles, during a live broadcast with KXLU 88.9 FM.

This experience was more than just an interview. It was a chance to speak directly to the community, to share not only our food, but the heart, culture, and values that stand behind everything we make.

About KXLU 88.9 FM, Los Angeles

KXLU 88.9 FM is a well-known, independent radio station based at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. For decades, it has been a place where creativity, independent voices, and new ideas are welcomed.

The station is famous for supporting artists and stories before they become widely known. Over the years, many influential bands and musicians have passed through KXLU’s studios early in their careers, including names like Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nirvana. The station has always been a space for discovery — not just in music, but in culture, community, and local stories.

Walking into this space felt like stepping into a living piece of Los Angeles history.

A Live Conversation with the City

Going live on the air was a completely new and inspiring experience. Speaking in real time to listeners across Los Angeles created a special kind of connection — knowing that people in cars, homes, and workplaces were tuning in and hearing the story of Ukrainian Flavors for the first time.

During the conversation, Tetiana Yaroshenko, the founder of Ukrainian Flavors, shared how the journey began — from a love for Ukrainian home cooking and family traditions, to building a Ukrainian food brand in the United States. It was a moment to talk about cultural roots, the meaning of traditional dishes, and the challenges and joys of growing a small, local business far from home.

Our mission has always been simple: to help more people discover the warmth and comfort of Ukrainian cuisine. Every interview, every conversation, and every new listener is another opportunity to introduce someone to the flavors, traditions, and stories that live inside our food.

Being welcomed into a place like KXLU — a station known for giving space to unique voices — was deeply meaningful. It reminded us that food is not just something you eat. It’s a way to share culture, memory, and connection.

Looking Forward

We are always grateful for opportunities to talk about what we do and why we do it. Our hope is that more people across Los Angeles and beyond will come to know Ukrainian Flavors, try our dishes, and feel even a small piece of the traditions that inspire us every day.
