Ground Turkey pierogi or varenyky - how to cook (if frozen)

Here's a simple recipe for cooking frozen varenyky (Ukrainian dumplings) with ground turkey filling:

Ingredients:

  • Frozen Turkey Pierogies
  • Water
  • Salt
  • Olive oil or butter
  • Onion, finely chopped
  • Optional: Fresh herbs (such as parsley or dill)
  • Sour cream or yogurt for serving (optional)

Instructions:

  • Boiling the Water:
    • Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a boil.
    • Add a pinch of salt to the boiling water.

  • Adding the Varenyky:
    • Carefully place the frozen varenyky with ground turkey filling into the boiling water. Be gentle to prevent them from sticking together.
  • Cooking the Varenyky:
    • Boil the varenyky for about 5-7 minutes or until they float to the surface. Stir gently to ensure even cooking. Once cooked, drain and set aside.

  • Serving:
    • Arrange the varenyky with ground turkey filling on a plate.
  • Optional Garnishes:
    • Sprinkle with fresh herbs, such as parsley or dill, for added flavor.
